Intro to the Improv Mindset
Intermediate Improv Knowledge
This phase of the ‘Live to Play’ Series, focuses on sharpening your Improv Toolkit for performance and deepening your ability to take risks together for a more playful interpersonal and intrapersonal life.
By taking a deep dive into the “rules” of improv, you’ll become more adept at bending and breaking them in order to explore what creative choices and creative freedom can mean.
We’ll delve into improv techniques vital for creating memorable stories and solid scenes, including making strong character-choices, shifting status, developing plot-lines, applying styles and genres, following the story’s arc, finding the ‘game’ of the scene, and seeing the innate humor in the mundane.
We’ll practice taking risks together, committing to certain choices while letting go of others, and getting used to quickly adapting to and advancing our ever-changing story-line.
In our 8 weeks together we’ll focus diligently on how we can apply these improv principles offstage to make every day brighter, fuller, and more playful. “Live to Play” students will gain confidence and courage not only for creating action-driven improv, but, more importantly, for creating action-driven lives as well!
At the end of the course, students will get the chance to show off their newfound Improv skills by putting on a performance for an invited audience of friends and family!
The class will meet in Mitte once a week for 2 hours and 45 minutes per session.
We can’t wait to laugh and learn with you! If you have any questions at all, just get in touch!
Cheers, and Happy Improvising!
